Peace in Our Time Concert – 13th October 2018

On a seasonably warm Saturday afternoon we settled in to enjoy a lovely range of music performed by Jane Field, Elaine Fleming and Philip Holland. One of the There But Not There figures was in place at the east end of the church.

This was followed by sharing a traditional afternoon tea.

One person sent an email saying the following: “Thank you for this afternoon we all enjoyed ourselves so much. Your team worked hard on the afternoon tea which was lovely. Here’s to the next St Peter’s Concert!”

This was all in aid of the East Window Appeal and raised a total of £422 pounds.

This year’s Harvest celebrations involved: more than 800 children; 65 bags of goods, fresh and tinned; 3 school services; beautiful flower arrangements; Harvest Lunch and the sale of produce; a large number of people helping to sort and deliver food to Caring Hands and a morning service full of thanks.

We had twice the amount of donations shown in the photograph on the left.

We also raised £252 towards the East Window Appeal.

Fundraising for the East Window Appeal

EODs held their ‘More than Words’ concert on July 30th, as part of the Evesham Festival of Words. The church was lit with glorious colour and ringing with wonderful music. The clever technicians also backlit the east window from the church garden, showing all of its glorious colours.

On Sunday 1st of July, we were open for the Port Street Fayre. Visitors included Mr Asparagus, the local police needing a drink, people taking refreshments in the shade in the garden and children who completed a treasure hunt while their parents sat in the cool.

James’s ordination in Wells Cathedral

On Sunday 1st July James Bell-Winfrow was ordained deacon in Wells Cathedral, having completed his training at Cuddesdon College Oxford. He says it was a very emotional day but he is looking forward to taking up his post in Langport, Somerset.

Please pray for James and the whole family as they began their life Somerset.

A prayer from the service of ordination of deacons

God our Father, Lord of all the world,

through your Son you have called us into the fellowship

of your universal Church:

hear our prayer for your faithful people

that in their vocation and ministry

each may be an instrument of your love,

and give to your servants to be ordained

the needful gifts of grace;

through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.
